In July 2005, the Division of Policy and Performance, (DPP) was created. DPP is charged with creating
innovative approaches to improve the overall health of New Mexicans and to address multicultural disparities.
Division of Policy and Performance Mission
The mission of Division of Policy and Performance is to improve the health of
New Mexico’s diverse populations. DPP will accomplish its mission by:
- Researching successful health improvement strategies and forwarding recommendations to agency staff,
the Office of the Governor, federal and state legislatures, and communities;
- Developing health policies and programs that improve access and;
- Advocating for policies at the state and federal level that improve health;
- Working with the state’s congressional delegation to communicate the Department’s programmatic and funding needs;
- Coordinating the Department’s legislative strategy and bill analysis process;
- Collecting and reporting data on Department priorities and programs;
- Developing and publishing the Department’s strategic plan and the Statewide Comprehensive Strategic Plan;
- Promoting community participation in decision-making;
- Convening the Governor’s Women’s Health Advisory Council, the American Indian Health Advisory Committee and the
Health Disparities Advisory Committee to promote sound health policy and programs that address the needs of
these populations.
