Through the Title V Program, New Mexico receives approximately 4.5 million dollars every year to fund programs for women, children and families. The grant report/application includes data for over 70 Maternal and Child Health indicators, and narrative text describing the health status of New Mexico’s MCH population and the programs that serve them.

Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant Five Year Comprehensive Needs Assessment

As part of the Title V MCH grant agreement, the State is required to conduct a comprehensive assessment of maternal and child health needs in New Mexico every five years. In 2010, the Family Health Bureau of the New Mexico Department of Health completed the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Children/Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSCHN) statewide needs assessment for the period 2006 – 2010, and used the results to identify priorities on which to focus for the next five years.

The comprehensive needs assessment report includes information on health trends for New Mexico’s mothers, infants and children, and presents a comprehensive overview New Mexico’s MCH program capacity.
