Spanish Translation Services

New Mexico has a high percentage of Hispanics, 49.04% of the total population, with a substantial number of Hispanics who speak only Spanish. Translation of documents is essential to address the needs of racial, ethnic, and linguistic population groups that experience unequal access to health services.

The Department of Health has a Spanish translator/interpreter that provides translation services for Department of Health programs. Mrs. Lilia Olivas Whitener was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, and has been in the United States for over 40 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Education and has post-graduate work as a Mental Health Worker. She has been translating for over 30 years in different settings, and teaching English and Spanish as a Second Language for 20. She brings to the job a love for languages. She understands both English and Spanish at different levels of grammar and usage and likes translating for the challenge it presents to be accurate and to keep the voice of the originator of the documents.

If you require English-Spanish translation or interpreter services, download, complete and email the apppropriate translation services form or interpreter services form and email to Paul Romero and Lilia Whitener.
