Families and Kids

The Health Department works with individuals, families, and communities in New Mexico to achieve optimal health. We provide public leadership by developing health policy, sharing expertise with the communities of our State, assuring access to coordinated systems of care and delivering services to promote health and prevent disease, injury, disability, and premature death.

 

New Mexico Newborn Hearing Screening Program:

All birthing hospitals in New Mexico are required to screen newborns for hearing loss prior to discharge from the hospital. The Department of Health's Children's Medical Services assists families in accessing needed services when their infants require follow-up on their screening.
