What is an All-Payer Claims Database (APCD)?
An All-Payer Claims Database (APCD) is a state mandated database that collects claims data from insured patients who receive care in New Mexico. Any time a person with insurance receives care for medical, dental or pharmaceutical care, the care setting submits a claim for services to be paid to the insurance company. The amount paid is the data that is then submitted to the APCD, which is operated through the New Mexico Department of Health. Other data that is submitted to the APCD include claims data for public insures like Medicare and Medicaid, patient eligibility information, healthcare provider information for physicians and facilities.
APCD are developed to fill critical information gaps, promote healthcare cost transparency and to offer actionable information to all its potential users.
