Description: In this NCTSN workshop, resource parents such as foster parents & adoptive parents & those that serve them will learn what trauma is, how trauma may impact children, & how behaviors are often symptoms of those experiences. This workshop provides information on how to create a safe place, how to become an advocate for trauma-specific services, & how to recognize & help prevent compassion fatigue (The National Child Traumatic Stress Network, n.d.). This workshop is divided into 7 trainings, covering 8 modules. This is the 6th training in the workshop.

Course Objectives
-List at least 3 of the basic elements of trauma-informed advocacy
-List at least 4 indicators that a child may need the support of trauma-informed therapy
-Describe specific actions you can take with an actual member of your child’s team

This workshop provides information on how to create a safe place, how to become an advocate for trauma-specific services, & how to recognize & help prevent compassion fatigue (The National Child Traumatic Stress Network, n.d.). This workshop is divided into 7 trainings covering 8 modules. This is the 4th training in the workshop.

Course Objectives
-Describe the cognitive triangle & apply it to a child who has experienced trauma
-Identify at least 3 reasons why children who have experienced trauma may act out
-Describe at least 3 ways you can help children develop new emotional skills & positive behaviors

Description: The purpose of this training is to educate health care providers on substance use disorders (SUDs) & to encourage screening of SUDs in all populations. In this training, providers will learn about common symptoms, risk factors, screening tools, & evidence-based treatment options for SUDs. This training will also provide additional considerations for older adults.

Objectives:
-Define SUD
-State how the brain reward pathway effects substance use
-Recognize at least 3 symptoms/criteria of SUDs
-Name 2 screening tools for substance use concerns
-List at least 2 prevention strategies
-List 2 treatment options for individuals who may have a SUD
