Healthy Kids Healthy Communities
Healthy Kids Healthy Communities (HKHC) works with more than 600 local and state partners to make long-term policy, systems, and environmental changes so it is easier for people to access healthy, affordable food and be physically active in their communities.
This vision is realized by transforming the local landscape: we strengthen food systems by supporting community gardens and farmers' markets, and by connecting schools, senior centers, and early childhood programs to New Mexico Grown food; we build active communities by helping partners secure funding for bike, pedestrian, and outdoor recreation infrastructure and supporting walk and roll to school programs. By bridging healthy eating with safe opportunities for physical activity, HKHC ensures that the places where New Mexicans live, learn, and play are designed for lifelong wellness.
