Community Health Workers Conference October 26-28
SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health Office of Community Health Workers hosts the 4th Annual Statewide Community Health Worker Conference October 26-28.
This year's event, taking place during Community Health Workers (CHWs) Month, will feature 25 continuing education training opportunities to support state CHW certification renewal. There will also be opportunities for non-CHWs to gain insight into the scope of practice for New Mexico CHWs.
"We want to offer our gratitude to the Community Health Workers, Tribal Community Health Representatives and Promotora De Salud for all the work they do to keep New Mexico's communities safe and healthy," said Devona Quam, Office of Community Health Workers director for the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH).
Community health workers are a crucial link between health and social services and the communities they serve. Tasked with facilitating health care access and improving community members’ well-being, they provide an impactful service that has the potential to positively impact the lives of some of the country's most vulnerable groups.
During the conference, NMDOH will be honoring a New Mexico CHW & Community Health Representative (CHR) to showcase and honor their outstanding service, dedication, and excellence within New Mexico communities.
The conference will take place at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque. The event kicks off on Sunday, October 26 with a pre-conference session and onsite state CHW certification services from 2 to 4 p.m. and concludes on Tuesday, October 28. To register for this event visit: 2025 New Mexico Statewide Community Health Workers (CHW) Conference Registration.
In recognition of all the important contributions of New Mexico CHWs, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has issued a proclamation making October community health workers month.
