Getting vaccinated every year reduces chances of getting sick, missing work or school, or developing serious illness.

There is no charge for the vaccinations. The annual flu vaccine is available for no charge for children and uninsured adults, while supplies last.

NMDOH recommends yearly flu vaccinations for everyone 6-months-old and older each flu season - running from October to May - especially for people in the following high-risk groups:

  • Children younger than 5-years-old, especially children younger than 2-years-old.
  • Pregnant individuals up to two weeks postpartum.
  • People aged 50 and older.
  • People of any age with chronic medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease, and people with weakened immune systems.
  • People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
  • People who live with or care for anyone at high risk for complications from flu, including healthcare personnel and caregivers of babies younger than 6-months-old.
