Appointments being accepted for 3D mammograms at Las Cruces Public Health Office

November 9, 2022 - Breast and Cervical Cancer - Disease

LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico Department of Health’s Las Cruces Public Health Office, 1170 N. Solano Drive, in partnership with Assured Imaging services is accepting appointments for 3D mammograms at an upcoming on-site mobile screening event Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments must be made in advance no later than next Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Mammograms - X-ray pictures of the breast and the best way to detect breast cancer early - can be scheduled online at https://assuredimaging.com/LCPH/ or by calling 888-233-6121.

All major insurances are accepted, with no referral needed for annual mammogram screening. Women are eligible for digital mammogram screening if:

  • They are at least 40 years of age
  • Have not had a previous mammogram in the past year
  • Have no current breast problems

Assured Imaging is one of the largest providers of mobile digital mammography in the United States, covering 60 locations across 13 states including New Mexico.

Individuals without insurance may qualify for mammograms at no cost. Persons in need of services may call the toll-free hotline 1-833-525-1811 to find a provider in their area. Hotline services are available in English, Spanish and other languages. A participating medical provider will determine eligibility for the Department of Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, women aged 50 and above with an average risk factor should get a mammogram every two years. Women aged 40-49 years old should speak with their doctor to determine their risk factors and what is best for them. If there is a history of breast cancer, screening may begin earlier.
