Maternal Mortality Review Committee
The New Mexico Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) and its operational staff are housed within the Maternal Health Program of the Public Health Division. The mandate of the MMRC is to conduct a comprehensive review each death that occurs to a New Mexico resident during pregnancy or within one year of the end of a pregnancy to examine causes and contributing factors and craft recommendations focused on specific and feasible actions that, if implemented, could prevent such deaths from occurring in the future.
Call for Members
The MMRC is composed of volunteers who provide diverse, multidisciplinary expertise in healthcare, social service, public health, and community-based / community-led systems and resources. Members serve 3-year terms and may be eligible for critical income reimbursement to facilitate participation.
The MMRC is now accepting applications for new members. Individuals with a strong commitment to health equity and diverse backgrounds in maternal health, community leadership, and patient safety are needed. Persons with lived expertise as members of communities disproportionately impacted by maternal mortality are strongly encouraged to apply.
